the notion of poor people conceiving of themselves as 'temporarily embarrassed millionaires' will be the same mechanism republicans will use to attract more poc to the gop: 'you are not oppressed, you have taken on the mindset that you are. come to us and you will be prosperous.'
when dems posture as bleeding hearts, and don’t pass any materially meaningful legislation, then the simple-minded, decisive, ‘traditional,’ ‘alpha’ energy that republican cishet men try to convey becomes a lot more appealing. poc men experience life in large capacity through their gender identity, and to appeal to a sense of confidence along those lines can be very alluring.
dems will need to come up with compelling messaging and legislation to counter this notion directly. will they do it? track record isn't good. but hey, i'm tossin out good shit for free. get desus and mero to fight misinfo tellin people to open their third eyes.
the biggest legislative recommendation i'd have is create federal job oppportunities in border cities for hispanic people that replace the oppressive functions of ICE. do that and you can instantly flip every latino majority border city that went to trump this year.
